Above all, Thanksgiving is all about gratitude for the necessities in life and sharing with others - even just by listening to them. As Matador Senior Editor David Miller pointed out in Happy Thanksgiving, Happy National Day of Listening, “listening to the stories around us–and helping to share them–makes for a richer, more connected and meaningful world.

So ideally, thanksgiving should be celebrated daily.

Here are a few books to get you better prepared for next year’s festivities.

This book spotlights the pilgrims’ first year in America. It focuses on the struggles of the pilgrims as they began their journey on the Mayflower. It provides an in depth historical overview of the stories behind the tradition.

If I have one more turkey leftover sandwich I'm going to burst, but I am very grateful for a full belly. Thanks for the great article.
