It’s tough to travel light with a serious camera and accessories, but the Mountainsmith Quantum Pack makes it simple. In addition to being roomy enough for a full day’s worth of gear, this bag comes with a detachable SLR case built right in.

The water resistant pouch holding your DSLR is attached by a zipper to the top of the backpack for easy access. You can also unzip the main cavity to reach your other gear and accessories without removing the camera case.

This backpack features back panel access, removable storm cover, waist straps, an adjustable sternum strap, and tuck-away side compression straps that double as tripod leash points.

The inside of the Quantum Pack is roomy enough to fit a change of clothes and a laptop along with your DSLR- maybe not ideal for an overnight trip, but great for a day of hiking or exploring the city.

Mesh pockets on the sides and a large front pocket add space for smaller items, and extra padding on the back make this bag a comfortable fit.

That looks pretty sweet. Just bought a dSLR and will be traveling with extra lenses soon, so may need to look into this bag more! Thanks for the tip.

Reasonable price, too. I’d hafta see if I could squeeze the camera with an 800mm lens mounted on it before I bought one, though. Hey ! I can Google it and learn more; I’ll be back.

Checked it out at Amazon. No reviews, yet. They give some larger photos. Closeup enough for me to see there’s no quick releases on the shoulder straps. That’s a ” Must Have”, for me. You want to be able to get the pack to swing off your shoulders quick, either when you see something wild you want to shoot in a hurry, or in case you fall in a river or ocean. I’ll stick with the old military Alice pack I have, for now.
