I'm just now reading "Malicious Gossip", a collection of short works by Khuswant Singh. My favorite one by him is "The Ground Beneath Her Feet," although I also love "Haroun and the Sea of Stories" and "Shame." You can read his stuff again and again and get new meaning each time.
