YouTube announces plans to open auto-caption options to all YouTube users.
Last November YouTube released a beta version of their auto-caption features, which uses the speech-to-text algorithms in Google’s Voice Search to generate video captions. Those capabilities are now available to all YouTube users, a particularly helpful tool for the deaf and those trying to learn English.
Captions are only available for videos in English, although YouTube has mentioned plans at including more languages this year – great news for any of us learning a second language.
