As part of the Matador Twitter contest, we will be spotlighting cool gear we’ll be giving away to lucky readers.
Paris to Cuba CD

From the co-creator of Billboard’s Classical Crossover chart-topper Aria, comes Paris to Cuba. Composed and created by Mario Grigorov, the ten tracks on the CD are the embodiment of summertime.

Perfect for any travel buff, the album’s sound conjures up the feeling of sipping mid-afternoon mojitos while watching a sunset on the Seine.

Blending hints of Pink Martini and Buena Vista Social Club, it is easy for the listener to get lost in the guitar solos, mysterious accordion and nostalgic, sweeping strings.

Not your typical jazz or world record, nearly all tracks on the album are instrumental, with the exception of three songs that feature stunning vocals by Melissa Newman whose voice is reminiscent of Madeleine Peyroux.

Listen to the sample track below

AND THE WINNERS ARE….

@AshleySFlintoff, @jessicavance, and @kirstysan.

We’ll be contacting them directly to send them a copy of Paris to Cuba.

    My favorite part of Paris to stay is the Marais. Maybe I am biased because my good friend lives there and I stay with him when I visit.

    My girlfriend used to live in Brazil and she got me hooked on latin music. When I started studying jazz I fell in love all over again. On top of that, I am just a lover of all things french.

    Ooh, I like. My favorite place in Paris is this random sandwich stand kind of outside of the Louvre before you head down the Champs Elysees. BEST brie sandwich I’ve ever had. Yum.

    If the music was translated to experiences, it would sum up the best parts of my travels: dancing in South American bars, wandering through cities, listening to buskers playing near streeside cafes, and enthusiastic conversations in a blend of languages with new friends. Perfection!

    @rcthink . I’ve always loved classical guitar. It makes me think of dancing out in the street in Paris somewhere. I’ve not been to either place but Paris is definitely on the list for next year.

    Reminds me of quite a few tracks on Putumayo’s Latin cds – and I love it. Chill but also wakes me up.
    Wish I had spent more time there, but my favorite place in Paris was outside the Louvre as the light bounced off it at sunset.

    I can’t really afford to travel anywhere but to my backyard right now but I can imagine sitting on my sun porch with a cool drink in my hand, a breeze blowing and this on the iPod helping me to travel to Paris and South America in my mind.
    Please?

    Since there is a pretty good chance I probably won’t be able to go to either of these places. At least for a while until I get a steady job it would be nice to bring it into my house, so I can imagine I am there while I’m listening to the music.
