AND THE WINNER IS…

@SharonJayneLee – “I love yoga. I have been practicing yoga for 8 years and I find myself inspired by my practice every time I am on the mat. Through yoga, I have learned to open my heart, to be truly conscious and to accept the present – and I’ve applied these lessons in my daily life, off the mat. It’s this constant inspiration that led me to start my journey as a yoga teacher and to spread this light to others. Now, I volunteer my time and offer free prenatal lessons to underserved populations that normally would not have access to yoga classes.”

We’ll be contacting her directly to send her the prAna Women’s Yoga Kit.

I first tried yoga while I was living in Japan. While I loved the stretches, my insecurities about my Japanese language abilities made me miss all of the relaxation benefits. I quit after 5 very expensive classes. Back home in New York, I’ve taken it up again – and regularly this time! I’ve been going about once a week all summer and I adore it. I never feel so powerful as when I’m dripping with sweat and executing a move I couldn’t do the week before. Yoga makes me feel brave, proud, strong, and healthy – things I don’t always feel in my every day life. That my arms are finally getting a bit more toned is just the icing on the cake.

Though I’m a tangled mess when I do yoga, I always feel good afterward that I’ve made it through another session. For me, yoga is a way to unplug mentally while toning my body and brain.

While staying at an eco-resort in Tulum, I was trying to get my money’s worth (for a $30/night, sand floor cabana :) so I attended the included sunrise yoga classes. The hour and half workouts kicked my butt, but turned my vacation into the longest, most relaxing week of my life. I’m still no expert, but I’m a convert! I do yoga often, my husband is now trying it–though he would kill me if he knew I was posting that on a public forum–and we are looking forward to yoga-ing during our future travels in order to meet people and get into relaxation mode. I would love to look like I know what I’m doing!

Yoga adds balance to life, especially when clubs, live music and parties are part of your life too. We hike every weekend, and I run 3 times a week, but yoga is my real way of feeling the calm vs everything else.

@angeliquita – I love yoga because I used to be a skeptic… I never understood the mechanics or sensations of practicing yoga, till I gave it a shot with a “Kundalini Happy Hour” class after work. After uncontrollably shedding tears & feeling a new inner strength during the class, I’ve actually shared my optimism & experience w/ others to join in :) . It’s a Thursday ritual for me now!

It’s not just an exercise but a way of life. Yoga is the perfect blend of flexibility and strength and touches mind, body and soul. it also makes you want to touch your toes at least once every hour! Might as well look good while you are doing it! ;)

I love yoga’s inclusiveness – anyone can do it, it’s non-competitive and everyone benefits from it. Make my surfing stronger and more flexible, and the same for my head. You can’t stress while you’re focusing on an asana!
