As part of the Matador Twitter contest, we will be spotlighting cool gear we’ll be giving away to lucky readers.
Sumo Backpack Satchel

This bag may seem small in appearance, but true to its name, the Sumo will swallow whatever you toss inside!

The shoulder straps on this backpack are also used as bag compression and tote carrying handles.

Keep your watch, phone, rings, and other small items easy to find by storing them in the internal mesh pocket near the top of the bag.

Caught in a monsoon? Your gear will stay safe and dry, protected by welded seams and waterproof fabric.

The Sumo Backpack is available in apple red, black, orange, and raft blue.

AND THE WINNER IS…

@JeffMarkman – “My wife and I would use this to protect all manner of valuables from the weather while hiking, camping, and world traveling.”

We’ll be contacting him directly to send him the Sumo Backpack Satchel.

I live in Seattle, where it’s hot as blazes now (and severely dry), but the rain will return…someday.

And I need a good waterproof bag. I’ll probably carry that instead of my purse, because I almost always have a camera with me in addition to my wallet, keys, cellphone and assorted odds & ends. Oh, and an umbrella!

…and maybe I’d throw my moleskine, current book, Shima to Shima: Souther Islands of Japan matador guide, and other valuables in there while I’m at it.

I kayak from my little island into town to work every day so this would be PERFECT way to carry my office clothes and other “town stuff” without lugging around a utilitarian but ugly (or is that BUTT ugly) drybag.

@tattsjane Given utter gong show that the summer weather patterns have been in Toronto (record setting rainfall and thunderstorms almost daily esp this week), I’d probably end up using not just for travel, but to get across town every day. It would keep everything dry and safe, work with my bike (as backpack and in basket), would keep my belongings dry when I play or attend soccer games in the rain, and generally make my life way easier.

Oh – and I could probably take it to the beach or up kilimanjaro as the mood strikes me.
